Today Sony has announced their newest lens, the FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lens.

If I was still shooting Sony would this be something I would buy? Probably not. This was originally rumored as a 16mm prime which I was more excited about as when I owned a 16-35mm lens, I pretty much used it like a prime.

It comes in at $1599 USD which is honestly well priced for what it is, but for that price I could also get the FE 35mm f/1.4 GM which is something I’d use a lot more. Regardless, if you are looking for a UWA prime either this or the Samyang AF 14mm would probably more then meet your needs.
